Following an extensive refit and upgrade, Windcat 32 is delivered to Eneco on the 14th of November.

The collaboration between Windcat and Eneco started in 2022, with a 5-year charter agreement allowing the safe transport of technicians. Windcat 19 started operation on January 1st 2023.

Windcat 32 – tailored to Eneco’s unique needs

Starting this summer, Windcat 32 has undergone an extensive refit in a shipyard in the Netherlands. The vessel has been upgraded incorporating various enhancements for sustainability and comfort:

  1. Lengthening: The Windcat 32 has been lengthened to provide additional deck space and cargo capacity, ideal for efficiently servicing offshore wind farms.
  2. IMO Tier III compliant SCR Engine: The installation of the new Volvo Penta D16 IMO Tier III compliant engine, incorporating a SCR (Selective Catalytic Reduction) system, significantly reduces NOx emissions, making it an eco-friendly choice for offshore operations. It also provides an increase in power which will maintain and further improve the vessel’s accessibility.
  3. Passenger Comfort Upgrades: To enhance the comfort of technicians and crew, the vessel now features noise and vibration reduction measures, improved air conditioning, additional storage space, and a water cooler aimed at reducing plastic waste through reusable bottles.
Partnership

The partnership between Windcat and Eneco signifies a forward-looking commitment to reducing emissions and promoting sustainability in offshore operations. It allows for additional vessels to be used, to further support the existing projects and also new offshore wind farm projects that Eneco will be part of.
